A few months back I was in Wellington, New Zealand making cookies with my friends across the trench. While I was there, Kat of ibicci made a live video on Periscope of me painting the doll faces using food colours on royal icing. It's pretty cool and you can see it here. Now I've taken the next step and filmed myself piping the doll hair on! It's a bit less dynamic, just me at home with my iPad balanced on a roll of paper towel, and it's awfully hard to keep my hand out of the camera's view, but here it is!

We've had the architects in! Building a brand new kitchen is a big thing! (who knew?) We've signed our loan documents, so it's proper and scary! We've chosen new appliances and have drawings, and are getting quotes from a joiner and a builder, then it's electricians and plumbers... etc... So now it's all bench tops and floor surfaces and doorknobs! Meanwhile, churning out plenty of cookies! Here's a slideshow of some of my favourites: Keep an eye on my latest cookies on Instagram: @pattymaccookies or on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pattymaccookies
I have just started negotiating my way through the minefield that involves setting up and running a food business. ABN, Business Name Registration, Food Authority Registration, Insurance, Council Planning Permission, kitchen inspections... all are underway and a LOT more complicated and expensive than I expected!
I never wanted to own a small business or be a sole trader, this stuff is NOT where my key skills lie, but I DO want to make cookies. Lots and lots of cookies, and I'm afraid that all this rigmarole is a necessary evil. At least now that I have an ABN, I can buy Decorator's Rose Spirit in the big bottles! |
